My Favorite Time of Year
This week is my favorite time of the year. I took the three days before Thanksgiving off just like last year. I am going to go for a ride a bit later on today, but I need to rest my back a bit more. I pulled it on Friday night hauling kitty liter to the car…I think. It is a week filled with family time and relaxing. We hope to go flying tomorrow with Branden as our pilot to Stephenville for BBQ. Should be a beautiful day for it.
I was able to hold Payton for quite a bit yesterday when we went to Branden’s for football. She is a sweet girl, and very content to sleep in your arms. I am so fortunate that my kids live so close to us. Who would have thought that we would be old enough to have two grandchildren already? I LOVE IT!
We have the annual Lewisville Toy Run coming up the weekend after next, and it is always a great time. Anytime you get to ride on a freeway that is closed to all traffic except motorcycles is a good time, and it is for a good cause as well.
We had a scary moment on Saturday morning as a group of 10 of us were going to ride to Granbury for lunch. We met Michael and Loyce at a gas station off of 35W and Hwy 170, and we all gassed up. Carla took the long way around the pumps to reposition herself after fueling up her brand new bike, and a Lexus backed out right in front of her. Carla caught the rear bumper with her highway peg, and peeled it right off, then went down on her stomach. Fortunately, she was only going a few miles an hour. As a precaution, she rode in an ambulance to the hospital for x-rays to make sure everything was OK. I think Carla liked her morphine. She was FUNNY! Fortunately she was only bruised, and we went to lunch closer by the hospital in the afternoon. Thanks Michael for staying there to coordinate having the bike picked up and returned to the shop for repairs. Great friends to ride with!
Enjoy your week, and I hope all of you get family time and relaxation.
