The next chapter….
Sunday, December 17th, 2006Well I took the big plunge this weekend. I am now the proud owner of a 2007 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. I will be posting some pics shortly. I have to tell you that it is quite an experience; kind of like getting immediate access to an entire HD family once you cross the line. Everyone there to help, and no one ever pressures you for anything. Everyone is just so eager to share their knowledge and experience with the newbies. I am continually amazed at how many people share this passion, and are happy to see you climb on board.
The dealership delivered the bike to my house on Friday, so that my first ride did not have to be I35, which was too unnerving to me. I did about 16 miles throughout my neighborhood, getting the feel of this large bike. I then ventured out to town, and rode to Peggy’s office to surprise her. It was nice to see her start to get excited as well. I rode around a bit more, went to Branden’s house to check on the cats, then rode home.
Saturday was a big day for Peggy as we had to go shopping for her helmet and leathers (leather was on sale that day). After about 90 minutes of shopping, we now have all of our clothing that we need to ride safely. When we got home, I took her for about an 8 mile ride, and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. She made a great passenger. We are riding to Branden’s today for football, and to spend some time with the cats.
I was asked to ride in a 17 mile toy ride that the dealership was sponsoring yesterday, but I thought that it was too soon. I was also asked to ride in the big Dallas/Ft. Worth toy ride today, but I think that I need some more time riding alone and with Peggy before I ride with another 20,000 bikes. Next year, we will participate in that charity ride for sure.
We are looking forward to this new adventure, and will enjoy our ride my Mike and Denise from Dallas to San Antonio and back sometime this Spring.
