Oh here is the wedding venue

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I forgot to post this link.

Check out the place where Ashley and Wade will get married. We have had lots of great family times here, and this was the site of our 25th wedding anniversary party.

It is only 4 weeks from Saturday until the big day! The ceremony is in the barn on the upper level, and the reception is downstairs on the lower level.

Wedding etiquette

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Ok, let me get on my soap box. I have experienced something twice now that bugs me regarding weddings. It started with Branden and Chris’ wedding, and now continues with Ashley and Wade’s wedding. What is so hard about returning the reply card letting us know whether you will attend or not? If we put the postage on the envelope to make it easy for you to reply by putting your name on the invitation and checking a box that you will attend or not, why is it so hard to return the envelope and card?

We experienced the same phenomena with the first wedding, and now with the second. I just do not get it. For those of you who have had your children’s weddings already, you know that we need to give the caterer a head count at least one week BEFORE the wedding. What is so hard about taking 30 seconds to complete the card and return it to the bride’s parents? It costs you no stamp or significant investment!

OK, I feel better. I just do not understand the lack of basic common courtesy with the special event. Based upon other parent’s experiences, I know that this is more common that most of us realize. Let’s all make a commitment to do better at this.

I am looking forward to Superbowl Sunday at Branden and Chris’ house this Sunday. I just have to figure out who to root for. Go Cowboys!…….Oh sorry, I am living in the past.:)

Wedding is getting closer

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Well with under 5 weeks to go, the preparations are going rather well. Never having been on the bride’s side before, I had no idea on all of the things that have to be decided and coordinated for the wedding. Having boys is a whole lot easier.

Ashley did her bridal portraits on Saturday at the Gaylord Texan Resort, and she is going to be one beautiful bride. I made it through with no big tears yet, but I got a bit choked up when a little boy came up and gave us a beautiful yellow paper flower and told us it was for Ashley. So sweet.

I look forward to seeing all of our friends and family on that special night.

Colombia trip

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

It is good to be back home after a successful, but very tiring trip to Colombia. I get there twice per year, and I am always amazed at the work ethic of the people who live there. It is very common to work 10-12 hours a day, and no one ever seems to get tired. I have posted some photos in the glaary under Colombia Sales Training if you would like to see some of the sights. It is a very beautiful country, and they actually like Americans!
The trip back was very tiring. I got up at 430 am to catch a taxi at 530 to the airport. We boarded the flight at 745am, and then deboarded 45 minutes later due to a mechanical problem. Since they had to fly the part in from Miami, I decided to rebook another flight later that day. That flight finally left at 300pm. By the time I got home, it was just before midnight. Glad to be back with family.
